Jerome Robbins is best know for his 1961 movie West Side Story, but he was one of the most important choreographers of the 20th century in ballet as well as Broadway. Houston Ballet will celebrate his 100th birthday with three diverse ballets from his repertoire. Karina Gonzalez, Principal Dancer, will be featured in all three, Fancy Free, the Concert, and a Houston Ballet premiere, The Cage. Karina Gonzalez was born in Caracas Venezuela and received her training at the Gustavo Franklin Ballet School. She joined Houston Ballet in 2010 and was promoted to principal dancer in 2013.
