Interested in trying a new healthy outdoor activity? Tai Chi is a centuries-old, related mind and body practice. According to the National Institutes of Health, practicing Tai Chi may help reduce osteoarthritis pain, improve quality of life, reasoning ability, balance, and stability in older people, those with chronic illnesses, and Parkinson’s disease. John Spencer, volunteer Tai Chi instructor, leads this class based on the 24-step Yang form of Tai Chi. The one-hour class includes low-impact stretching, breathing, and range of motion exercises held in the outdoor classroom near the Nature Center.
