Overview

The Texas Memorial Illumination at San Jacinto will be held on November 13, 2021.Volunteers will place and light 21,500 luminaires on the fields of San Jacinto Battleground in remembrance of those Texans who have given their lives in armed conflict from the Texas Revolution through Afghanistan. People will experience this event in various ways. To some it will offer solace, to others deep emotions will be revisited. But it will be inspiring to everyone.The site opens to the public at 6 p.m. and will remain open till 12:00 a.m. You will be led along a driving luminary lit path through the woods then around the San Jacinto Monument - which towers 567 feet and is the tallest column monument in the world. From the steps of the monument, you will overlook the reflection pond surrounded by luminaries. Proceeding ahead you will be enveloped by acres and acres of luminaires on the fields of honor. As you cross Independence Parkway you will arrive where Sam Houston and the Texan Army encamped during the Texas Revolution. This event is for all ages. Families are encouraged to attend. There is no admission fee. A donation may be given upon entering the park.
