A fun and energetic schedule of activities classes is led by a largely international group of artists and instructors that include: Yeni Molinet (Cuba), Armando Crisanto Meléndez (Honduras), Royland Lobato (Cuba), Tony Paraná (Brazil), Sandi Morales (USA/Mexico), Danny Diallo Hinds (Barbados), Raúl Orlando Edwards (Panamá/Jamaica), Reinaldo Costa (Cuba), Luana da Silva (Brazil), Tracie Jackson (USA), Solangel ‘Lali’ Calix (Honduras), Alexis Zanety (Cuba), Los Hijos del Son (high-energy traditional Cuban music band), Jorge Orta y su Tumbaká (fresh and exciting salsa music), El Gato Volador (special international guest DJ) and DJ Franky (local guest DJ), and others. This year the festival launches ‘Cultural Exchange’ – a series of free events and activities designed to engage the community and sponsored by University of Houston Downtown (May 23 events) and University of Houston CLASS (May 26 events). Space is limited - free ticket registration required. sponsored by Ufeatures a dynamic Panel Discussion (UHD Campus), followed by a festive evening of dancing at nearby Etros Lounge that includes a free Cuban salsa dance lesson led by some of the festival’s guest artists. The closing Cultural Exchange event takes place on Sunday, May 26 and is sponsored by University of Houston College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and brings a vibrant closing with a live percussion dance class surveying dances and rhythms from around the world, followed by a Latin party.
