Collective 48 and Mildred’s Umbrella will join theaters, playwrights, directors and actors throughout the US and Canada who have united during Women’s History Month to present The Future is Female Festival, a series of staged readings and productions of 10-minute plays written by women of all backgrounds on the subject “The Future is Female” and what that means to them.“Instead of spending March celebrating women’s history, we’ll celebrate women’s futures,” says festival creator and writer Mya Kagan of New York.The Festival will take place MARCH 15 (8pm) and 19 (3pm) at Studio 101 and MARCH 26 (7pm) at Main Street Theatre. All performances are pay-what-you-can. 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Women’s Resource of Greater Houston.The Houston festival will feature 7 new plays. All plays are written and directed by local, female artists.
