The annual Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Houston Airshow takes flight Saturday, October 21 and Sunday October 22, 2016 at Ellington Airport with thrilling aerial performances, aerobatics, demonstrations and displays. A great event for the entire family!
The flying unit, officially known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, flew its first public flyover of 2017 at Houston, Texas for Super Bowl LI.
Vietnam War Reenactment
The Vietnam War Tribute demonstration will be one show not to miss. It will take aircraft from crews of the Commemorative Air Force, Vietnam War Flight Museum, the Collings Foundation, Cavanaugh Flight Museum, military ground troop re-enactors from the 6th Cavalry, with the National U.S. Forces Museum and others. Aircraft include F-4, F-100, A-4, Huey, Cobra, Mig 17, Skyraider, 0-2’s & more.
US Navy F-18 Super Hornet
Air shows are the best place to see a VFA-122 Super Hornet in action. The Tactical Demonstration, or “Tac Demo” team flies the single-seat F/A-18E and two-seat F/A-18F as close to the “edge of the envelope” as safety and prudence allow. The routine highlights the Rhino’s maneuverability and slow-speed handling characteristics and has been very well received around the country.
138th Fighter Wing - Tulsa Air National Guard
The 138th Fighter Wing based at Ellington will open the show with a full afterburner take off as they depart on a training exercise.
