There are so many things to be thankful for this year. Let the 2023 Thanksgiving festivities commence, whether it be Houston’s iconic Thanksgiving celebrations like the H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade or just little staycation getaways to pass the time while feeling grateful.

74th Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Parade

This famous parade is set to stroll at 9 a.m., Thursday, November 23, 2023. Located in the heart of downtown Houston, this event is one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day parades in the country.  Look for marching bands, bright and colorful floats and a vibe of eternal gratefulness!


Thanksgiving with the Fish

Looking to still have an experience whilst eating your Thanksgiving meal? Head to the Downtown Aquarium. Visitors can dine in at the aquarium and enjoy a full Thanksgiving menu that includes roasted turkey, cornbread stuffing, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy and dessert. It would not be the holidays without the Houston Zoo’s Zoo Lights. There will be hot chocolate, libations, millions of lights, a giant ice throne, Santa photos, and a 125-foot-long Infinity Tunnel of Lights. Tickets are required for entry and are not available for purchase at the gate.


Skating Under the Stars

After you’ve had your fill of Thanksgiving turkey, get active! Head to Discovery Green for safe, sanitized and socially distanced ice skating at The Ice Powered by Green Mountain Energy. Located in Downtown Houston, Discovery Green’s ice rink is surrounded by the bright lights of the city’s skyscrapers. The price for skating and rental is $17 and tickets must be purchased online.

Hungry’s

The holiday catering menu at Hungry’s will be available from November 1st through December 31st. Whether you’re looking for hors d’oeuvres for a few guests, show-stopping sides for your Friendsgiving, or a seated feast for a crowd, Hungry’s has you covered.

The family feasts are offered in serving sizes of four or ten and include seasonal favorites such as Oven Roasted Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham, several sides including plant-based offerings and seasonal pies. Sides include cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, beet “potato” salad and more.  ‘A La Carte dishes are available as well. They kindly request that all holiday orders be placed with a 24-hour notice. For Thanksgiving orders, the last pick up is Wednesday, November 22nd at 3pm.

The Warwick
Open on Thanksgiving day and offering catering

Galleria-area restaurant, the Warwick, will be open on Thanksgiving day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will offer a select menu of customer favorites and a Thanksgiving plate. They will also be offering catering packages for pre-order: Deep Fried Turkey, Hawaiian Glazed Ham, Brisket, a number of sides, Carrot Cake and Caramel Bread Pudding. Three packages are available ranging from $250 to $485, serving 5 to 16 people. Orders open October 30th and must be placed by Saturday, November 18 at 5 p.m.. Pick up will be Wednesday, November 22nd by 5 p.m. 

Badolina Bakery and Cafe
Open on Thanksgiving day and offering to-go options

Be the star of your holiday party with the addition of Badolina Bakery to your table. Known for their exquisite pastries and breads, customers can shop for favorites like smoked sourdough with sour cherry, blackberry poppyseed and classic baguette. Bread is sold daily on a first-come, first-served basis. The bakery will be open Thanksgiving day, so swing by for a morning pick me up and that last minute bread. 

Badolina’s picturesque cakes are also a showstopper for a holiday table. They can be ordered with a 24-hour notice and are available in sizes of 7”, 8” and 9”. They are offered in a variety of flavors like, Raspberry Rose, Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Cake and Orange Cake. The shapes and colors are equally as impressive as the taste. While some are available daily on a first-come-first served basis, we recommend you place an order at least 24-hours in advance to secure your selection. Thanksgiving orders must be placed by Tuesday, November 23rd and picked up on the 24th. 

*Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse, and Orange Cake are all gluten free. Orange Cake is also dairy free.

Friendsgiving Feast Wednesday Night
