For an added dose of local art, you can visit the Conroe Art League housed in the Madeley Building. The century-old structure is an iconic edifice in the historic district that was built shortly after a devastating fire tore through the streets of downtown in 1911. Used first as a meat market, the building housed retail shops and a telephone company before being bought by the city. It was then renovated as part of the downtown revitalization program and is the premier area for arts in the Conroe area showcasing paintings, sculptures and other artwork.
Enjoy the beautiful sea air in Galveston and experience all the arts scene has to offer at the ArtWalk, organized by the Galveston Arts Center. There’s truly something for every art taste here, from avant-garde works by nationally renewed artists to handmade crafts, to whimsical paintings perfect for a beach house, visitors can see it all. Food and drink vendors line the sidewalks and there’s often live music, painting, photography, performance art and other goods for sale.
