Deer Park

Conveniently located near Houston and Galveston, Deer Park brings visitors a destination full of history, outdoor fun and delicious local cuisine. 

As Texas history lovers will appreciate, Deer Park is home to Patrick's Cabin, a historical representation of the site where the initial treaty papers were drafted following the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, which secured Texas' independence from Mexico. Sam Houston, David Burnet and the Texas Cabinet met at George Moffit Patrick's cabin to draft the initial treaty papers following the battle. For that reason, the city proudly holds the distinction of being the "Birthplace of Texas."

The town was founded in 1892 by farmer and former legislator Simeon Henry West, and the community of Deer Park is recognized for its railroad history and its role as a hub for the energy industry.

Battleground Golf Course Deer Park

Deer Park is also home to the Battleground Golf Course, an 18-hole, 72-par facility that's also great for special gatherings. With a championship layout, this course is sure to test even the most seasoned players. The course also boasts varied tee lengths to ensure that novice players enjoy the rounds at the course. Novices and seasoned players alike will also benefit from the course’s incredible practice facility complete with a 3-hole practice loop and a lighted driving range.

Throughout the year, the community hosts events such as "Dive-In" movies at the Dow Park Pool, free open-air concerts and holiday celebrations. The Art Park Players is one of the last dinner theater groups that remain in Texas. With four full-scale productions a year, this attraction brings folks to Deer Park for a unique brand of entertainment.
