Canard, a high-end, cocktail house in the Historic Heights neighborhood, is one of the restaurant group Treadsack’s most recent bar concepts. The group has dolled out plenty of local favorites in the neighborhood, where all of their concepts call home, including Canard’s next-door neighbor Foreign Correspondents.
Before or after dinner, pop over to the cozy lounge for a well-made cocktail or two. The interior boasts vibrant peacock blue walls, brass finishes and white lining along the bar stools and private booth seating. The lounge, while small, provides comfortable and cozy seating for small groups or couples.
While carefully-crafted cocktails are the draw, the menu offers plenty of approachable, less tedious options for those looking for a simple vodka soda or old fashioned. And don’t expect to wait 10 minutes for your carefully crafted drink. House favorites are often pre-made to avoid the hassle of waiting for an elaborate concoction.
Need a push picking something from the menu? Try the Lyan & the Unicorn inspired from a bar in London and featuring a tea tincture with capsaicin and “sugar cubes” that are actually compressed young coconut jelly. Or, the Balladonna cocktail mixes two types of vermouth with absinthe and a layer of creme de violate.
