A Heights Mexican-American eatery aspiring to be the G.O.A.T is aptly named Chivos, "goat" in Spanish.
Guests absolutely must get their hands on the handmade tortillas served with truffle butter and salmon roe. Ceviche and pozole dumplings will also hit the spot. The restaurant offers five main dishes — pollo a la leña, grilled shrimp, duck breast, pork ribeye and carne asada. Diners should also partake in dessert, because — no reason necessary except that they won't want to miss out on the offerings. A traditional tres leches is, of course on the menu, but it's topped with an untraditional passionfruit meringue. The other option is xocolatl tamal, which is made with cajeta, marshmallow, almonds and vanilla — all good things.
Complete with a darling patio that hosts views of the bustling Heights activity, Chivos is a must-visit for anyone looking to taste Houston's proximity to Mexico.
