Legendary Houston restaurateur Tony Vallone teamed up with son, Jeff, for the 2009 opening of their casual Italian outpost—Ciao Bello. The Tanglewood-set venture draws neighboring families for cucina casalinga—home cooking—served in a light and bright setting. Inside, abstract murals by John Ross Palmer add to the lively design and help brighten the space, including Ciao Bella’s air-conditioned, glass-door-enclosed patio. Guests can choose from an array of seafood, pizza and handmade pasta dishes that fill the always-changing menu. Family favorites like spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna Bolognese live alongside more daring options like the white wine and tomato-imbued mussels Aiello and the rabbit cacciatore. Ciao Bello is open Sunday through Friday for lunch and dinner and dinner-only on Saturday evenings.
