Dante's River Oaks has a story that originates from long-time restaurateur Brian Doke’s passion for Italian food and wine. The serendipitous business decision came after frequent visits to the former Italian restaurant and his love for the tucked away space off Mid Lane.
Dante’s offers a menu of shareable starters such as Charcuterie and Cheese boards, Tartares, Olives Ascolana and Mediterranean Style Octopus. The salads highlight various regions of Italy such as Venice, Rome and Naples. Guests can enjoy a variation of six pastas such as Rigatoni Caico e Pepe, Tagliatelle Truffle & Mushrooms and Pappardelle Bolognese. A rotating catch of the day rounds out the main courses of Ribeye, Duck Breast and Roasted Salmon. The menu reflects many Italian dishes that are loved for their simplicity while chef Ilia also brings a modern touch. The wine and cocktail menus are just as authentic. Doke has been a collector of Italian wines for years, so guests can expect a niche selection of delectable bottles and other worldly highlights.
Aperitifs such as the Aperol spritz will be complemented by line up signature cocktails like the bergamot margarita, the Italian Paloma and multiple gin & tonics, which are perfect for warm Houston days ahead.
The space underwent a transformation debuting white walls with dark accents, heavy greenery, an airy patio and a brighter feel. Beautiful tilework and an open kitchen remain, as guests are invited to dine at the bar where the chef will debut a monthly tasting menu. The spacious patio has been redesigned featuring seats for approximately 30 guests, a seated lounge area for an additional 20 seats, and a private dining space for groups of 20-25. The quaint inside is inviting with its atmosphere and approachable menu with 30 seats. Guests can expect unique experiences for each service, which will offer cocktail pairings by beverage director Evin Haines. During the summer months, guests will receive a complimentary Spritz with their lunch entrees. Dante’s features a monthly rotational board and bottle special from 3-5 p.m., and its fourseated Chef Table’s has a monthly pre-fixe menu.
Dante’s is open for lunch, happy hour, and dinner services Tuesday through Saturday. Lunch is served 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. those days, with happy hour from 3 - 5 p.m., and dinner service starting at 5 p.m. Reservations can be made via Resy.
