Cowboys love this rustic barbecue spot with its wood-plank walls and photos of bluegrass bands. The menu describes the various sizes of chicken fried steak portions, the biggest being "big as a saddle blanket." The juicy catfish po'boy is enormous and the salad bar comes loaded with pickles, jalapenos and salad greens. Ribs are tender and moist and the house barbecue sauce makes anything taste grand. For sides, go with the onion rings.
Show up early, even on the weekends. People know the Hollow is good, and the line gets long in a hurry. But it's worth the wait.
Hickory Hollow hosts live music (from country to Cajun to folk) on the weekends. Friday shows are from 7pm-10pm, Saturday shows 6:30pm-9:30pm and Sunday shows 6pm-9pm. Call for a schedule.
