West Coast-based North Shore Poke Co. headed east in 2017, launching its first store outside California in Houston’s Westchase area. Founded in Huntington Beach, the restaurant celebrates the traditional Hawaiian cuisine of poke—a dish consisting of white rice and seasoned, sashimi grade raw fish.
Located in a strip center, at the crossroads of Westheimer and Wilcrest, North Shore promises a menu highlighting the elusive cuisine-defining balance of sweet, salty and a hint of sour in dishes like the spicy teri—an in-house blend of Waimea and house teriyaki—and sunset, a zippy rendition of spicy tuna with a touch of shoyu. Of course, you can also customize any selection with a build-your-own bowl, choosing sauce, rice base, fish, and add-ons like scallions, pickled ginger and masago.
North Shore Poke Co is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
