The microbrew scene has grown tremendously in Houston over the last few years, and Ben Fullelove’s Petrol Station is direct evidence.
The establishment is the epitome of a neighborhood bar, tucked in between residential houses just a few streets up from the Northern loop of 610. Even though the former gas station is many blocks away from the hustle and bustle of the Washington Avenue and Rice Village areas, many count it among the best beer bars in Houston.
The Petrol Station’s highly praised bar food – don’t miss their burgers – and a great, constantly rotating selection of craft beers make it worth the drive. An appearance on Zane Lamprey’s TV series ‘Drinking Made Easy’ underlines this fact. The kitchen is freshly remodeled which should speed up service on busy nights. While the interior is rather small, an outdoor seating area is a pleasant option on mild, sunny days.
The Petrol Station is open daily, times vary.
