In May 2016, Cherry Pie Hospitality Group (of Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts and Petite Sweets fame) put down roots in West Houston in the form of State Fare—a casual, made-from-scratch concept that touts Texas food in a laid-back atmosphere.
Located in Gateway Memorial Center, in the shadow of The Westin Memorial City and across the street from Memorial City Mall, the restaurant reflects restaurateur Lee Ellis’ eclectic style and originality. Snag a seat at the oversized bar, on the patio or in a linger-worthy booth and dig into tempting creations like the provolone and bourbon butter-topped roasted oysters, short rib mac ’n’ cheese and Sabine Pass Gumbo. Guests looking for lighter options will be well served with a bowl of the tortilla soup or Texas “Caviar” salad with shaved kale and a cilantro-lime dressing. Expect a solid drink selection with a mix of wines, beers and cocktails. Can’t decide? Our money is on the Blueberry Ginger Mule or Garden Variety, which combines thai chili-infused vodka, cucumber, lemongrass and ginger.
The restaurant is open Monday though Saturday for lunch and dinner.
