Singapore-born Chef Chris Yeo brings Asian-fusion cuisine to west Houston in the form of CityCentre’s new Straits restaurant. Set on the ground floor of the chic Hotel Sorella, the spot is known for its menu of innovative dishes, creative cocktails and lounge-like atmosphere.
Upon entering the hip and airy spot, guests are greeted by loud, high-energy music and modern minimalist décor. Outside, there’s extensive patio seating with views of CityCentre’s grassy plaza, while the inside makes room for a bar area, traditional dining space and private seating spaces that are partitioned by gauzy, flowing drapes.
Among the menu’s array of smaller and larger plates are signature favorites like the spicy, sweet-and-sour Chili Crab and slow-cooked Rendang Beef dish, which features stew-like tender cubes of beef served with a side of pandan polenta in a banana leaf. Many dishes are served family-style, giving guests a chance to sample several of Yeo’s much-loved creations.
