It seems every single year we all make the same resolutions: exercise more, eat better, etc. However, without fail, those resolutions are broken due to laziness, stress from work, parties, or the occasional midnight craving. Well, this year why not go the opposite direction?
Let’s make this year a one we don’t deprive ourselves and one we treat ourselves. And these places will help make you start the new year with happiness and a full stomach.

House of Pies

House of Pies is a Houston institution. With two locations open 24-hours, this local favorite is always hopping, even into the wee night hours. They serve up every pie imaginable. Cherry? You got it! French Blackbottom? Sure! There is even a pie dedicated to our great city called the Bayou Goo. This mouth-watering pie is a must try with nuts, cream cheese, vanilla and chocolate custard, with whipped cream on top.

Common Bond Café & Bakery

Breads, croissants and other breads are baked fresh every morning. But who cares, their desserts are where it’s at. Alongside bread and specialty coffees, you can find decadent desserts like massive stuffed oatmeal cream pies, brownies, macarons and a rotating selection of world-class mini desserts. They also offer over-the-top birthday cakes.

Three Brothers Bakery

This bakery founded by three Polish immigrants has been satisfying Houstonians and expanding pant sizes for more than 65 years. They offer award-winning cakes, pies, cookies and more, and have been profiled by national outlets like BuzzFeed, Good Morning America and Food Network. Their most talked about concoction is the Pumpecapple Piecake. A massive cake with pumpkin pie, apple pie and a pecan pie all staked on each other.
