Identity Tequila is coming out of the liquor closet and showing its LGBT pride. Founded by Casa Maestri in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, Identity Tequila is targeted specifically to the LGBT community. Made from 100 percent Blue Weber agaves from both the Highland and Lowland regions, this award-winning tequila is now available in Houston just in time for your pride parties.

Houston native, and third generation tequila maker, Jose Villanueva saw a gap in the tequila market, which gave him the idea to make the first tequila for the LGBT community.

“I wanted to create something that directly targeted to the gay community because there wasn’t one and at the same time give back to the community,” says Villanueva.

And there is no guilt for buying (and consuming) multiple bottles because a portion of the proceeds goes to the GLAAD Foundation. So drink up baby, you are doing it for a good cause.

“Every single person is different, whether it’s your skin color, race, gender, or sexual orientation we are all unique in our own way. This is our Identity,” says Villanueva.

The other good news, according to Villanueva, the tequila is so well made that drinking it alone, meaning sans that syrupy margarita mix, is it will not give you a hangover. A challenge I am taking him up on this weekend.

Make sure you stop by the Identity Tequila booth at the Pride Festival this weekend to learn more and to get a free sample. Also, find out where you can pick up a bottle of Identity Tequila here.
