B&B Butchers & Restaurant brings a traditional butcher shop and an upscale steakhouse together under one roof on Washington Avenue.
To start, B&B Butchers offers a butcher and delicatessen experience featuring some of the finest, meticulously sourced products within Texas and beyond. The dual concept, which also includes the steakhouse, is housed in the historic Dittman Bakery built in 1924. The 1,800-square-foot butcher shop evokes the pristine design of a classic old-world store with a circular window opening into the meat cooler, allowing customers to see the dry-aged meats.
Specializing in custom hand cuts, the whole animal butchery also offers house-made and house-cured meats and sausages, as well as a charcuterie. Standout cuts include Texas-bred Wagyu beef from the Gearhart Ranch in West Texas near Marfa and Japanese Kobe straight from Japan. Made-to-order sandwiches, featuring house-made deli meats, signature chicken, tuna, egg or lobster salads, and freshly baked bread from a nearby bakery, are available to go or dine-in at the shop’s counter.
Meanwhile, the steakhouse will offer a more fine dining experience with specialties like the Wagyu carpaccio, raw bar selections, and classics such as the Châteaubriand for two, Surf and Turf beef Wellington, and the Carpet Bagger steak. The lunch menu includes unique hamburgers, meat-driven pastas, salads and sandwiches along with noteworthy dishes like a bone-in chopped steak and steak frites.
The 7,500-square-foot two-story building, which seats 80 downstairs and 40 upstairs, features dark wood, plush chairs, exposed brick and period lighting. The bar areas on both floors offer a full selection of local and global spirits, beer and wine, cocktails on tap and a separate, smaller food menu. Original posters featuring cattle culture hang on the walls of the dining room while a custom butcher diagram is painted on the exterior walls of the building.
