Take a Houston Tour With Us!

Houston SkylineWelcome and thank you for visiting Houston Historical Tours.  Houston Historical Tours provides tours and lectures of the sites past and present that have created and contributed to the evolution of the fourth largest city in America - Houston!

We have been in business since 2000 and have conducted over 2,000 tours for over 10,000 people.  We offer over 100 different tours.  While most of our tours are local, we also offer tours in other cities and states.  Most tours are in a single day and some are as short as a couple of hours; however, we also arrange multi-day tours.  We have day and evening tours as well as walking and driving tours.  For those groups with their own bus, we offer step-on guides.  We price the tours accordingly.

Houston's Buffalo BayouHouston is over 600 square miles/1,000 square kilometers.  Our city’s land mass is bigger than over 10 nations, including the countries of Vatican City, Monaco, Nauru, Tuvalu, San Marino, Liechtenstein, and the Marshall Islands COMBINED.  Houston is bigger than Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Seychelles, Palau, and Andorra.  Do not be fooled by people who tell you that you can have a comprehensive tour of Houston in less than 3 hours. It simply cannot be done! Also, be aware that some companies advertise that they offer tours when they offer only transportation to Space Center Houston and other sites. We offer both. In some cases, you may be better served by taking a taxi.

Some of our most popular tours are:

  • City of Houston tours
  • Space Center Houston transports and tours
  • Haunted tours
  • Downtown Tunnel tours
  • Beer tours
  • Galveston tours
  • San Jacinto State Park tours
  • Walking tours

Holocaust MuseumHouston has over 40 museums and over 30 galleries. We have seven live theaters in downtown alone and there are more across the city. Houston has more than one-half dozen sports stadiums and arenas. Houston has gardens and mansion homes to tour. Houston and the surrounding areas have amusement parks. Houston is a great destination site for a vacation. A tour when you first arrive in Houston is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the many activities that you can enjoy during your stay.

Houston Howard Hughes MemorialAll tours are scheduled by appointment.  Please call or write to schedule a tour, pay a non-refundable deposit to reserve the tour, and then receive an email to have it confirmed.  Most tours are scheduled at least two weeks in advance.  Although we offer hundreds of different tours, we do not have hundreds of different tours going out at one time.  Most tours tend to be private for the party who contacted us.  If one wants to guarantee a private tour, one can pay an additional amount to reserve the transportation, but often that is not necessary.

Sometimes, we receive calls on the same day that someone wants a tour and, when possible, we will provide the tour.  Allow at least 1 hour from the time that a telephone conversation ends for us to arrive at the starting location to begin the tour.

Since September 17, 2018, we now accept credit cards:  American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.  A 5% upcharge is added to the cost of the tour to cover the charges of the credit card rate, transaction fee, and bank charge.  Please complete the Credit Card Form on the Pricing Page and return it to us so we can process the information.  We continue to accept CHECKS as long as they are IN OUR HANDS AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE A TOUR.  We also accept Money Grams, Western Union, cashier checks, and money orders.  On the day of a tour we only accept cash at the OUTSET of the tour.

Your tour guides are all either college professors, members of the Harris County Historical Commission, members of the Professional Tour Guide Association of Houston (PTGAH), and or have passed a test to be a tour guide.  We feel that if you are paying for a tour, you deserve a knowledgeable tour guide.

All of our vehicles are air conditioned and covered.  For approximately 4 months a year from the middle of May through the middle of September, you can expect the high temperatures in Houston will be between 90 and 109 degrees Fahrenheit/30 to 43 degrees Centigrade with 70% + humidity during the day.  We want you to be comfortable during a tour.

Please take your time to read the other pages on this site to learn more about what we offer, schedules, pricing, et cetera.  We want you to have a wonderful experience in Houston.

Please Note: All our tours are scheduled by appointment. Please call or write to schedule a tour. Our contact information is at the top of all pages in our website. On receiving your reservation and non-refundable deposit, we will send you an email confirming your reserved tour.
