Sugar Land

Small-town Texas charm and cosmopolitan allure strikes a balance in Sugar Land. Located 20 minutes southwest of downtown Houston, Sugar Land engages visitors with fine dining, accommodations and entertainment options, as well as championship golf courses, shopping centers and family-friendly events.

More than 900 retail and restaurant options await guests in the city of Sugar Land. At First Colony Mall, national brands and specialty stores share space with dining destinations. Nearby, at the Market at Town Center, a popular Nordstrom Rack and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th draw fashionable fans for discounted designer clothing.

Within walking distance, at Sugar Land Town Square, dining, shopping and nightlife combine in a pedestrian-friendly plaza. The expansive development provides visitors with a destination for activities, restaurants and hotel accommodations, such as the Sugar Land Marriott Town Square Hotel & Conference Center, recognized as the number one full service Marriott in Texas.

Beyond the city’s shopping scene, Sugar Land also boasts world-class performing arts, educational exhibits and plenty of year-round, action-packed entertainment.

At the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, guests can experience a face-to-face encounter with Devil Rex or enjoy an outer-space adventure in the Hall of Space Science. The museum’s 2,000 gallon salt-water aquarium houses a wide variety of aquatic life including tangs, butterfly fish, live coral and sea anemones.

Later, culture vultures can snag a seat for local performances at the restored, 100-year-old Sugar Land Auditorium and, starting in early 2017, entertainment connoisseurs can enjoy national talent at the “centre” of everything live, Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land.

The active set has plenty to keep it busy, too. Constellation Field is home to the Sugar Land Skeeters—the area’s minor-league baseball team who swept the 2016 Atlantic League Championship Trophy. The multipurpose facility hosts football, and softball games, as well as concerts and non-sporting events.

Inside, at Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center, locals can watch hockey games and skating competitions, hit the rink for an afternoon of ice- skating or host a special event.

Fun activities await the youngest visitors to Sugar Land at Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center. Located at the historical Imperial Sugar refinery site, children up to 12 years old can experience six hands on, minds-on exhibits, including Kidtropolis, How Does it Work?, Cyberchase, Dragons and Fairies, Can I Do That? and Tot*Spot.
