The 2017 Houston Tourism Summit made a date change from early fall to the springtime season this year and was combined for the first time with the GHCVB Annual Meeting. On March 30th over 600 tourism and hospitality industry professionals gathered at the recently renewed and refreshed George R. Brown Convention Center to network with each other and partake in a full day of speakers, panels, round tables, and presentations.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston First Chairman, David Mincberg, and two keynote speakers were on hand – Peter Yesawich, Vice Chairman of MMGY Global, during the morning session, and television’s popular travel expert, Samantha Brown, to round out the working luncheon. Mayor Turner proudly announced that Houston has already successfully reached our 2018 goal of 20.5 million visitors!
Among the topics discussed this year were: Jargon Watch: Digital Marketing Decoded; Creating a Sense of Place; Stop Causing Your Customers Pain,; Engineering Unforgettable Travel Experiences; Trends in Inbound International Travel; and How the Economy & Political Climate Impact Travel. Planning has already begun for the 2018 summit - your feedback is vital and we welcome your comments and suggestions, firstname.lastname@example.org.
