In a few years, when there are bhldn (pronounced beholden) stores dotting shopping centers all over the country, Houston will still have bragging rights to having had the very first location of the brick-and-mortar bridal boutique.
Located in Highland Village—just a couple of doors down from its sister brand, Anthropologie—bhldn opened in August 2011, catering to brides-to-be and well-heeled Houstonians, alike.
Inside, reclaimed hardwood floors, industrial lighting and antique display cases add to the cozy, eclectic appeal, complimented by an array of always-changing art installations, stunning gowns and bridesmaid fashion. Just past the foyer, guests find a corridor leading to dressing rooms on the left and, on the right, a décor room filled with napkins, stationary and cake toppers, as well as lanterns, paper goods and chandeliers. Nearby, a shoe and accessories salon shines with bhldn’s boleros, cardigans and statement-making heels, while the back of the boutique displays vintage-inspired gowns and tea-length dresses.
Stop by the store, which is open daily. Appointments are suggested, but walk-in brides are also welcome.
