Max's Wine Dive - Montrose
Houston, TX 77006
After operating the original Max’s Wine Dive location on Washington Avenue for more than six years, owners Jerry and Laura Lasco have opened a second Houston location in the Montrose neighborhood at Fairview and Taft, next door to Cuchara. Max’s second location is certainly bigger, if not better, with more than 2,500 square feet of wining and dining space.
The décor of this location is similar to the the original, featuring an industrial style, shotgun bar, leather banquettes, a jukebox, an open kitchen, and local artists’ work on the walls.
Like all Max’s locations, the restaurant’s menu is split between the “Max’s Classics” to the left, think Southern fried chicken, shrimp and grits and Max 'n cheese, and chef-driven creations to the right like Boudin Risotto with Pork Tenderloin and chicken and sriracha dumplings. After perusing the menu, spend time pouring over the 150 wines, all available by the glass (with a two-glass commitment Max’s will open any bottle in the restaurant). Find something worth sipping and take a bottle home as a retail purchase. The full bar also turns out some mean martinis and sake shooters.
Max's kitchen remains open until the hotspot's 2 a.m. closing time on the weekends, and Midnight on the weekdays.
