In summer 2013, the 485-room, Galleria-area Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston kicked off a $25-million renovation. The enhancements, slated for completion in early fall 2013, focus on interior spaces, the lobby and all guest rooms, along with the food and beverage outlets, meeting spaces and the rooftop swimming pool.
The property tapped design firm Looney & Associates to head up the redesign, creating a space that is decidedly international, urban, chic and flavored by the principles that make Houston a leader in energy, medicine and space exploration, as well as a cosmopolitan, future-leaning destination.
Among the changes, guests can expect the current bar to be reconfigured to accommodate a grab-and-go concept, the lounge to be reconfigured into a featured gathering space and upgrades to the meeting spaces, which enhance the grand soaring staircase and open mezzanine. The rooftop pool will also see enhancements, as it's elevated to urban resort status with new furniture and surfaces, as will the adjacent, 24-hour fitness center.
The Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston is ideally situated at the gateway to the Uptown District and just steps from the famed Galleria complex.
