Oporto Café has a new little brother—Queen Vic Pub & Kitchen. Owner Richard Di Virgilio has expanded his H-Town presence with another polished, Upper Kirby-area outpost, this time doling out premium cocktails, craft beer and small British-inspired plates to an enthusiastic crowd.
Inside, young professionals, nearby neighbors and fellow Oporto fans fill Queen Vic’s comfortable interior, ready to dig into items on the well-edited menu. Chef Shiva Patel sends out artfully-plated varieties of vegetable samosas, bullet naan and cheese plates as well as a flavorful chicken tikka made with free-range chicken and topped with spicy, crushed peanuts—just a couple of QV’s tempting options.
Drinks stack up here, too, with an always-changing assortment of beer on tap. (Look for the day’s line-up jotted down on the mirror above the labeless-taps.) Stay tuned for the addition of afternoon tea time, tastings and other special events.
