The Houston Farmer's Market has been a staple in Houston since 1958. The family-owned business on Airline Drive that started out at just 3800 square feet expanded over the years to more than 20,000 square feet. over 20,000 square feet. Much of the produce is grown in the area and across Texas, though some of it is shipped in from other growing regions. There are also a large number of sauces, spices, jellies and other specialty food items only found here.
Behind the store is an open-air Mexican-style market with stalls run by individual vendors. You'll find a wide array of exotic produce, spices, chiles, kitchen products, Mexican specialties like mango con chile y limon and more.
Bring small bills for the market, as most things are $1 or $2, and vendors only accept cash. Don't miss the taco trucks parked in the back.
Open daily from 6am to 8pm.
