Coffee drinkers and shoppers of fine wine and cheese can rejoice thanks to the recent opening of Max Gonzalez's second Mercantile location. Gonzalez started out with Washington Avenue's popular Catalina Coffee and Amaya Roasting Company, then expanded on the coffee concept into the gourmet grocer realm.
Mercantile on Montrose will continue to make room for coffee shop offerings, but it’s the specialty grocery items that make up much of Mercantile’s interior. Expect to find artisan products like European crackers from The Fine Cheese Co and Falksalt—flavored sea salt crystal flakes—as well as goods from local brands like Angela’s Oven, Fluff Bake Bar and Tavola Pasta.
