This year, Saint Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday, so there’s no excuse not to get out, dance an Irish jig and have some fun with your family and friends. There’s plenty to do around Houston, but we’ve rounded up some can’t-miss activities in the surrounding areas.

The doors of Goose’s Acre in The Woodlands will open at 8 a.m. for a fun-filled day featuring bagpipes, Irish dancers, green beer and more. Stop in for breakfast from 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. or for lunch and dinner starting at 11 a.m. With live music on two stages from noon – 2 a.m., it’s sure to be a great time for adults looking to celebrate. Sample local restaurants and breweries at the St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Grazia Italian Kitchen in Pearland. This event starts at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17. Featuring live music and a DJ, there’s no better way to taste the local food, beer and wine. Food and drink tickets are sold at the door. If that’s not your style, Kings Biergarten and Big Horn BBQ both have live music on Saturday with great food and perhaps a green beer or two for you to try.

St. Patrick's Day in Brazosport

Head to Surfside Beach for one of the longest traditions in the city: a Saint Patrick’s Day parade! The parade will roll at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, starting and ending at Surfside Beach City Hall. This family friendly parade features decorated floats, plenty of beads and candy, and an excellent excuse to wear that leprechaun costume you have laying around your house.

A local favorite for a low-key St. Patrick’s Day is O’Malley’s in Galveston. Open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., O’Malley’s offers 100 varieties of imported bottled beer and a place to celebrate in Irish style without all the commotion. A comfortable atmosphere and pub foods await at this Island favorite. (We still recommend you wear green to avoid getting pinched!)
