Marriott Marquis Houston
Back to Top of List
A beloved holiday tradition in Downtown Houston, Texas Winter Lights is returning to Altitude Rooftop at the Marriott Marquis Houston, recently named one of the Top 15 Hotels in Texas in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. This year promises to be bigger, brighter, and more Texas than ever before. From November 17 through December 31, 2025, the hotel’s rooftop –– home to the iconic Texas-shaped lazy river –– will transform into a sparkling holiday playground with more than 100,000 dazzling lights, a brand-new 360° photo experience at the center of Texas, expanded entertainment, and festive western-inspired bites.

This year’s Texas Winter Lights (November 17 – December 31, 2025, 5 – 10 p.m. nightly) leans into the hotel’s Lone Star swagger more than ever before, with new nods to Houston culture and Texas traditions. Highlights include: grand opening celebration with Mattress Mack on November 21, 360° photo opp with a brand-new immersive installation at the center of the Texas-shaped lazy river, and expanded entertainment lineup which, besides returning Concerts Under the Stars, includes live country bands, dueling pianos, and even line-dancing, making each evening a distinctly Texan holiday celebration. On select nights, Father Christmas will greet guests of all ages, giving families the perfect holiday photo op. High Dive, the hotel’s rooftop grill and bar, will serve western-inspired bites–including Duck Banh Mi, brisket sandwiches, and loaded Totchos–in addition to specialty cocktails and local beers (plus a secret off-the-menu drink) for the perfect taste of the Lone Star State.

In addition to the returning igloo, cozy wooden cabins provide private spaces to sip, snack, and roast s’mores on Altitude Rooftop. Their igloos and cabins can accommodate 4–10 guests and come with a range of exclusive add-on packages, including curated food towers and bottle service, with reservations starting at $150 for a 2-hour session.
The world’s largest Texas-shaped lazy river remains the star of the show. Warmed to 80 degrees, guests can float under glowing arches with a Texas beer or holiday cocktail in hand—an only-in-Houston experience. Other returning favorites include: VR sleigh ride with Santa, festive family films, and date-night classics on a giant screen by the pool, a nightly “snowfall” over the entrance, lawn games, and much more. Admission: complimentary for hotel guests; starting at $30 for adults, $20 for children ages 2–12.

The holiday spirit carries throughout Marriott Marquis Houston. A limited collection of themed rooms, dressed in festive décor and offering glittering downtown views and a bird’s-eye view of Texas Winter Lights, invite guests to keep the celebration going long after the rooftop lights dim. And on December weekends, Walker Street Kitchen (the lobby restaurant known for elevated Gulf Coast flavors) will present a Merry & Mischievous Brunch featuring themed dishes, sweet surprises, and a special visit from our favorite green guest who brings a dash of mischief and plenty of holiday cheer.
