More than 630 troops from Texas have perished in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A memorial in Northwest Houston pays tribute to those fallen soldiers.
The Fallen Warriors Memorial in Cy Champ Park was dedicated in October 2012. The memorial lists the names of all of the soldiers from Texas who have died on active duty in the nation’s two most recent conflicts.
Set along a peaceful stretch of the park, the memorial offers a quiet place for reflection and remembrance of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It’s also become a popular gathering place for the friends and family of fallen soldiers to visit and take rubbings of their loved one’s names carved in the stone memorial.
There is ample parking for those visiting the memorial in a connected lot.
