Who says running is boring? From running in the dark to dressing up in a Halloween costume, races with themes are always fun! And, you don’t have to be a serious runner to join in the fun. There are 5k and one mile options along with longer distances like 10K and even 10 miles available around Houston this season.
5K Races
Monster Dash 5K and Kids Run in Lake Jackson - October 27
The 5K Monster Dash is through MacLean Park and along the Dow Centennial Trail. FREE t-shirts to the first 100 registered! Awards given for the best costumes, so runners are encouraged to dress up. The Kids Run (600 meters) is FREE and includes a fun run t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to all children who participate.
DAV 5K Run to Honor Veterans at the Kemah Boardwalk – Saturday, November 3, 2018
Join this race on November 3rd as the DAV 5K Kemah partners with the Kemah Boardwalk and the City of Kemah’s “Salute to Service” weekend. The DAV 5K is an event that thanks those who served and raise awareness for our ill and injured veterans.
Clute Knight Run - A Glowing 5K - November 10
The Clute Knight Run is a night time 5K benefitting the Clute Lion’s Club. The 5K winds around Clute Municipal Park (where family and friends can set up to cheer) and is open to both runners and walkers. Participants will be given a glow accessory along with a T-shirt.
Lake Jackson Turkey Trot 5K/10K and Kids Run - November 22
The Turkey Trot course cuts through oak shaded trees in Lake Jackson and is the perfect way to start your Thanksgiving. FREE t-shirts will be given to the first 100 registered! Awards will be presented to age group winners. Participants are encouraged to dress in Thanksgiving themed costumes.

Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas - The Woodlands - October 13, 2018
The Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas includes a 10-mile race, 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K and the One 4 Texas Kids' Fun Run through The Woodlands. These races are produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department. After the race, participants will enjoy a Texas-sized post-race party with fun for the whole family.
Pleasure Island Bridge Half Marathon - October 27, 2018
The Pleasure Island Bridge Half Marathon will take runners 138 feet over the Sabine-Neches canal for a very literal "runner's high." This steep challenge provides coastal views and promises to be lots of fun. A 10K and two miler option is also available.
American Heart Association 2018 Bay Area Heart Walk – November 10, 2018
Be a part of a race that takes place all over the country. Nearly one million people at 300+ events across the country walk together to raise money for research related to cardiovascular disease and stroke. You can join a team and help a great cause with just a short drive from Houston in Bay Area!
Tough Mudder - November 18, 2018
The Tough Mudder in Conroe is 10 miles with 20+ obstacles and you will end up being covered in mud before it’s all over. The trails are beautiful and scenic and the obstacles are bigger than ever this year!
Texas 10 Conroe 10 Miler – December 2, 2018
The Conroe 10 is a beautiful run through northern Montgomery County starting and finishing at the Lone Star Community College Conroe Campus. The five mile, two-loop course sets up for some fast times and will challenge runners to push themselves while running for a personal best! You can also opt for a 5 mile race or kid’s one mile run!
