Eat, Drink and Explore!
The Uptown area anchored by Post Oak Boulevard, is not only known for its shopping, it’s also known for its endless dining options. From casual to upscale dining, there’s a restaurant for everyone. Here are our recommendations for you to try the next time you’re in the area.
BREAKFAST
A great day of shopping starts with a great cup of coffee right? Start your day at Giant Leap Coffee, a space-themed coffee spot in Uptown Park. Try the International Spice Station coffee and pair it with Quiche with potatoes and chorizo. As the most important meal of the day, we also suggest starting off your morning with a full breakfast meal at Kenny and Ziggy’s New York Deli. Get a taste of New York’s finest deli offerings in the heart of Houston with classic deli fare and breakfast served all day. Wake up with handcrafted coffee, pancakes, egg options galore and the weekly breakfast specials. To live like a true New Yorker in Houston, be sure to get bagels and lox, complete with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cream cheese. On the weekends, visit The Annie Cafe for a great brunch option with buttermilk pancakes, french toast, egg and chorizo enchilada and more!
LUNCH
When you’re in Houston, tasting Mexican food is a must! One perfect lunch option to curb that craving is Chef Hugo Ortega’s new URBE which offers tasty street foods of Mexico like quesadillas, Tacos al Pastor with trompo pork in achiote, charred pineapple, onion, cilantro, habanero salsa, corn tortillas, burgers and more. For a ladies lunch, check out the beautifully pink decorated Bloom & Bee in the Post Oak Hotel. Kick it up a notch with caviar, crab cakes, charcuterie, sushi, flatbreads, plenty of delicious salad options, sandwiches and entrées. Ingredients are locally sourced from farmers, ranchers, fisherman and artisans. Be sure to treat yourself to a lunchtime cocktail like the signature rosé sangria. For a quick and healthy lunch alternative, we recommend trying True Food Kitchen, Mendocino Farms or Flower Child for great tasting pizzas, salads and sandwiches.
HAPPY HOUR
Forget 5 o’clock, start your happy hour at 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Rustic in Uptown Park. The daily happy hour specials include $5 house margaritas (on the rocks or frozen), $5 bites like meatballs, deviled eggs and hot or cold queso. Also, be sure to order The Legendary Rustic Rita with Osadia Blanco, house-made mango popsicle with Patrón Citrónge while you listen to live music! Another culinary change of pace would be the delicious Italian-inspired bites at North Italia. Enjoy happy hour zucca chips, the daily pizza, bruschetta or chef’s charcuterie board coupled with a $5 glass or $16 bottle of red wine, white wine or sangria.
DINNER
Need a great dinner option in Uptown? Whether it’s date night or you’re looking for a spot to enjoy dinner, book a reservation at the highly acclaimed Mastro's Steakhouse and taste fresh oysters, New Zealand King Salmon Fillet or a New York Strip while you marvel at the beautiful decor. One romantic spot for dinner is Etoile Cuisine et Bar in Uptown Park. The French food at this Uptown establishment does not disappoint and changes depending on seasonal availability. The seared foie gras is not to be missed, as well as the mushroom ravioli with port wine, white truffle oil and aged Parmesan. There’s also a divine roasted duck breast. Go on a culinary tour along the Mexican coasts at Caracol Mexican Coastal Kitchen. Dishes like Ceviche de Langosta, Ostiones Asados and Pescado Zarandeado are inspired by cuisine from 16 Mexican coastal states! Uptown Sushi is another great Uptown Park option for anyone wanting delicious Japanese-fusion and sushi for dinner. After a big day of eating, sushi is often the perfect way to lighten up your meal. Try their signature nigiri options and delicious maki like the Lickety Split or Optimus rolls.
DESSERT
We have one additional tip for visitors, save room for dessert! We suggest heading to Bouchée Patisserie in the luxury The Post Oak Hotel. Open late, this Paris-style confectionery is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy bonbons, cake, gelato, chocolate and specialty coffee. When walking into Bouchée Patisserie, you’ll feel like you just stumbled into a decadent Parisian hideaway for a late night treat.
