We are honored and more than happy to have you in our diverse city. Houston is ready to share with you all a memorable celebration of world-class football energy and the unmistakable flavors, sounds, and spirit of H-Town.

We share your reverence for perfectly cooked, hearty meats. While you celebrate with Plov — your legendary, slow-cooked national dish — here in Texas, we are world-famous for our steaks! And, you don’t have to look far to satisfy the ultimate carnivore craving. Discover our take on the definitive meat-lovers experience at four of Houston's best traditional steakhouses — plus a retro, nostalgic bonus spot you won't want to miss!

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is a legendary Houston institution that has set the city's fine dining standard since the original Galleria location opened on Westheimer in 1995, now accompanied by a sleek second outpost in the heart of Downtown. It is the gold standard for a traditional, upscale Texas steak night, featuring timeless leather booths, low lighting, and a world-class wine list that consistently sweeps international awards.

Every cut of meat on the menu is USDA Prime, butchered in-house, and dry-aged for at least 28 days to unlock its tenderness and flavor. While the bone-in ribeyes and filets are the main event, the family-style sides — like the creamed spinach and extra-crispy onion rings — are just as legendary. The experience is rounded out by a stellar bar program that boasts a collection of rare, allocated whiskeys and single-malt scotches. Whether you want a perfectly stirred classic Old Fashioned or a dirty martini with blue-cheese-stuffed olives, the lounge at either location is the ultimate spot to kick off the night… or enjoy a nightcap. Cheers!

Steak 48 is the definitive see-and-be-seen steakhouse in Houston. Located in the glitzy River Oaks District, it’s famous for its high vibes, glam crowd, and, of course, prime steaks. Featuring a unique glass-walled butcher shop and a chic, multi-room layout, it’s the ultimate go-to when you want to dress up, celebrate, and have a special night out.

Before you even dig into the steaks, you must start with the Instagram-worthy Seafood Tower, which arrives piled high with shrimp, lobster, and king crab legs over a cloud of dry ice. While it operates as a traditional American steakhouse, they easily accommodate dietary needs by offering certified halal cuts of premium Wagyu Filet Mignon upon request. For the sides, the Corn Crème Brûlée is a sweet creamed corn topped with a torched, caramelized sugar crust. The finale is just as memorable as the rest of the meal, featuring beignets served hanging right from a tree statue brought straight to your table.

B&B Butchers & Restaurant offers one of the best views of the Houston skyline, served up alongside expertly curated beef. Housed in a restored historic brick building on Washington Avenue, it’s a premier destination for catching the sunset from their rooftop patio or taking in the energy of a buzzing, fashionable dinner crowd.

B&B offers both an upscale dining room and an old-school neighborhood butcher shop. Their meat selection ranges from Texas-bred Wagyu to authentic, certified A5 Japanese Kobe. Because it is one of the only restaurants in the country certified by the Kobe Beef Marketing & Distribution Promotion Association to sell real Kobe beef, it offers a rare opportunity to taste some of the most beautifully marbled, melt-in-your-mouth steak in the world.

The Butcher’s Grille is a neighborhood favorite in Tanglewood, offering everything from sizzling lamb chops and premium cuts of beef to open-charcoal grilled kebabs and chicken shawarma. Whether you choose to dine in their dining room or unwind on one of their two verdant patios, it’s a welcoming spot for kicking back after a long day of exploring Space City.

Every cut served is 100% premium halal, sourced to meet the highest ethical, humane, and hygienic standards, which naturally yields cleaner, healthier, and richer flavors. To complement the smoky profiles of their meats, the restaurant features a dry bar. In place of alcohol, they have developed a sophisticated mocktail program that mirrors the complex flavor notes and elegant presentation of fine mixology.

If you’re looking to ditch the dim steakhouses and enjoy some nostalgic Americana vibes, head to Star Rover in the Heights. It’s an old-school Texas steakhouse complete with checkered tablecloths, wood paneling, and soft-serve ice cream! The food is unabashedly made for Texas-sized appetites; start with the potato skins, which are almost too big to fit in the basket they’re served in. The milk roll are served hot, glistening with butter, and topped with flaky salt. Yum!

When it comes to the entrees, every steak dinner automatically includes a chilled house salad, those addictive buttery rolls, and a 50/50 split side of crispy fries and onion rings. If you’re feeling brave, you can attempt "The 76er" — a challenge to finish 76 ounces of steak, plus all the sides, salad, and rolls in under an hour to get it for free and land your photo on the wall. Whatever you choose, you have to save room for dessert. They serve a nostalgic soft-serve spin on a fast-food classic called the "Frosty" & Fries, giving you a thick, chocolatey soft-serve shake meant for dipping a side of hot, salty French fries right into it.
