Megabus.com is launching new service in Texas and the Southern U.S. with daily departures and arrivals between Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and other cities.
Megabus.com began taking reservations this week for service beginning June 19. Fares start as low as $1 each way. Adding to the attractiveness of the service is the fact that each double-decker bus is equipped with free wireless Internet, power outlets and restrooms.
In Houston, the company will have buses arriving and departing regularly from 815 Pierce, across Travis from Metro's Downtown Transit Center.
"We are excited to land yet another transportation option for people visiting our area," says Greg Ortale, president and CEO of the Houston First Corporation members. "The more ways people are able to get to Houston, the greater our potential for success."
The vast majority of leisure and business travelers to Houston come from elsewhere in Texas--particularly the three other major cities. "Connecting these metropolitan areas provides these travelers another low-cost means of getting to Houston," Ortale says. "What's more, the high-tech capabilities of these buses is something we will be able to utilize in our promotions."
Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and is one of the largest intercity express bus service providers in North America, transporting more than 18 million travelers.
