The Lancaster Hotel Houston, one of the city’s oldest luxury hotels, opened as the Auditorium Hotel in 1926 and reopened as The Lancaster in 1983.
An extensive renovation was completed in summer 2013 that included a major redesign of the lobby and meeting spaces as well as all guest rooms and suites. The result is a more modern take on luxury, with a large, dramatic lobby and reception area filled with natural light and warm tones. Guest rooms now offer premier bedding and bathroom fixtures, 55-inch smart TVs and of course wifi in all public areas and guest rooms.
The renovation was designed by Gensler and took four months to complete. The family-owned property is the only hotel in the Theater District and is walking distance from Jones Hall, the Alley Theatre, Wortham Theater Center and historic Market Square.
The Texas Historic Landmark hotel now boasts décor in keeping with its Theater District location, borrowing theatrical posters from its neighbors’ previous productions for a dramatic air.
The Lancaster is also home to Bistro Lancaster, which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a full bar perfect for pre-theater cocktails. Guests can also take advantage of complimentary limousine service within a three mile radius of the property.
