Mexico City is sending some of its top culinary talent to Houston next week to prepare some of their signature dishes.

Chefs Margarita Carrillo Arronte, Gerardo Vazquez Lugo and Victor Cabrera will join local chefs in their restaurants December 10-12. The initiative dubbed Sabores CDMX is part of a new tourism collaboration between Mexico City Tourism and Visit Houston.

Carrillo Arronte, the chef at Mexico City’s Turtux and author of Mexico: The Cookbook, will be cooking alongside Hugo Ortega at Caracol in the heart of the Galleria district. Vazquez Lugo, chef at the restaurant Nicos, will be preparing his signature fare at Cuchara, in Montrose. Chef Cabrera of the Culinary Institute of Mexico will be at Arcodoro in Uptown.

Visit Houston and the Joint Tourism Promotion Fund of the City of Mexico signed a letter of intent in September to establish a bilateral agreement of tourism promotion. Designed to help increase travel between the two cities, the agreement is based on promotion of five main areas of tourism: sports, medicine, life sciences and gastronomy.
