Houston's own Minute Maid Park will feature the best cricket players in the world for a one-day "Cricket All-Star Series" match on November 11, 2015.
Many Americans have never watched a match of cricket in their lives. But the sport is played by over 120 million people worldwide, making it the second most popular sport after soccer. As the most diverse city in the country, Houston's cultural distinction makes it the perfect location for the historic occasion. The All-Star series will headline cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne as team captains. The event marks the first ever international cricket match in Houston's history.
The match will be T20, a much shorter and aggressive form of cricket with games taking three hours instead of multiple days. "Sachin's Blasters" and "Warne's Warriors" will feature some of the best players to ever play the sport hailing from eight different countries including Michael Vaughan (England), Wasim Akram (Pakistan), Ricky Ponting (Australia), Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka), Brian Lara (West Indies), and Jonty Rhodes (South Africa), among others. The three-city tour will make additional stops in New York City and Los Angeles throughout the month of November.
