The Houston Astros announced yesterday that Torchy’s Tacos and Shake Shack would be available to fans at Minute Maid Park in 2017. Last season, it was announced that Minute Maid Park’s center field wall, affectionately nicknamed “Tal’s Hill” would be removed and scaled back to make way for new seating and restaurant options. The wildly popular restaurants have been Houston fast food favorites since opening this past year.

“We couldn’t think of a better partner for our first venture into baseball than the Houston Astros,” said Torchy’s Tacos Founder Michael Rypka. “Houston is home to some of our most loyal Torchy’s fans, and we can’t wait for our new location to open in the center field area of Minute Maid Park.”

The restaurant additions come in addition to announcements that celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern’s eclectic line of sandwiches and wraps will expand in 2017 along with other offerings. In 2015, the Astros made headlines by adding the chicken waffle cone to its concessions menu. Last season, the ballpark launched Fastball Foods, a self-serve kiosk concession stand that eliminates long lines that cause fans to miss out on the game. The pilot concept is the first self-ordering food stand in an MLB park.

More new ballpark food and seating options will be announced this spring before opening day.
