He’s baaack! The former managing partner of River Oak’s Brasserie 19, Shawn Virene, returned with more sparkle and bubbly for H-Town. Virene brings the best of France’s Champagne region and Bouzy village with the opening of champagne-fueled concept restaurant, a’Bouzy. Located in Upper Kirby, a’Bouzy (pronounced “ah boozy”) has an extensive variety of sparkling’s, offering versatile sips for both the occasional drinker and the wine enthusiast.
With a wine list of over 1,000 labels and more than 250 champagnes and sparkling wines, you might wonder what, if anything, could make this unique experience better? Food, please. Luckily, a’Bouzy ensures there’s something tasty to nibble on. Developed by co-executive chefs Freddie Gonzaga (America’s and Clark Cooper Concepts) and Jose Ruiz (Grove and Liberty Kitchen), the robust menu includes a large raw bar, Alaskan King crab, Maine lobster, pickled vegetables, prime cut meats, salads, sandwiches and a variety of seasonal items.
Regarding ambiance, A'Bouzy is all the buzz about town. Surrounded by bottles and bottles wine and champagne, the atmosphere is a mixture of chill and sophisticated chic. The interior design has hints of modern and vintage décor, reminiscent of a home in the South of France. Adding to the rustic feel, guests will find exposed brick, reclaimed wood, vintage champagne buckets and a nice patio decorated with herbs to drive home the “bubbly” theme.
A’Bouzy is open on Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
