A cozy booth in the tiny dining room at Baby Barnaby's (next door to Barnaby's proper) is a coveted spot for lazy weekend mornings. Diners autograph a pad of paper posted just inside the front door to reserve a table, then read newspapers or people-watch on the front porch.
Following in its proud papa's footsteps, Baby serves traditional American and comfort food, but specializes in breakfast fare. The terse blackboard menu offers simple morning pleasures, nothing fancy: eggs (any style), biscuits and gravy, English muffins, homemade pancakes and fresh cantaloupe. Huevos rancheros—a gooey slab of perfectly cooked eggs, seasoned fried potatoes and black beans smothered in melted Jack cheese with chipotle salsa ranchera—and a generously stuffed breakfast burrito emphasize the down-home spirit.
