Burger Libre is a fun lucha libre-inspired burger joint in La Porte, about 30 minutes southeast of Houston. Lucha libre, for those unfamiliar with it, is that Mexican wrestling known for its snazzy masks, flamboyant characters and theatricals.
Brought to you by the owners of Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen, Burger Libre promises to deliver made-to-order burgers made with freshly ground beef and topped generously with your choice of veggies, cheese, bacon and their signature chili-based luchador sauce. They claim to lay the sauces and toppings on thick because “luchadores aren’t known for their restraint.”
On the menu are six cleverly named burgers that include the Mucho Macho, a beef patty topped with pork chorizo, applewood bacon, pepper jack cheese, libre sauce and veggies, and the Porky Gordo, a beef patty topped with pork chorizo, American cheese, Amazon sauce (cilantro-based mayo), tomato and grilled onion.
Sides include fries, tater tots, and chips and queso. Not in the mood for a burger? Try the Skeleto taco, a crispy taco with ground beef, refried beans, cheese, lettuce and a special sauce.
Burger Libre is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
