Soul food mainstay This Is It has moved out of its Midtown digs and into the Third Ward, making room for Cafe Layal Midtown. The second location for the Cafe Layal group continues the business’ commitment to delivering inexpensive Middle Eastern fare to the masses, this time with a few new additions.
Much like the original Cafe Layal, the menu offers traditional favorites like hummus, gyros and falafel, but owner Layal El Saadi has added non-fat and soy-milk smoothies, freshly-ground burgers, fries and philly cheese steaks. Inside, the open spaces makes room for couches and tables, prime for enjoying a bite to eat or hookah smoking.
Cafe Layal is open Monday through Saturday for lunch, dinner and late night.
