Don’t be misled by the bold colors, neon and drive through—Chacho’s isn’t another Taco Cabana. Located in North Houston, the Tex-Mex spot draws a loyal (and eclectic) clientele that’s hungry for budget-friendly fare and an upbeat atmosphere.
Inside, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who Chacho’s target market is, as the restaurant is always brimming with customers of varying age, race and economic status—apparently, the combination of potent piña coladas, memorable margs and tasty King Kong nachos are all locals need to keep coming back. The resto also boasts a generous fresh salsa bar chock-full of spicy sauces, just-made pico and toppings. Still, Chacho’s biggest claim to fame is probably its 24-hour, 7-day-a-week schedule, which means patrons can score breakfast tacos at sun-up and a flauta plate in the middle of the night.
Get it to-go, too, via one of Chacho’s two—seriously, two!—drive thru lanes, which operate around the clock.
