233 N. Loop West
Houston, TX 77008
When El Rey’s Oak Forest lease ended in late 2016, many neighboring fans were left wondering where they would go to satisfy their Cuban cravings. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before the company reopened in a more prominent, two-story location near 28th Street and the 610 Loop.
The popular fast foot spot draws a loyal, but diverse following of Houstonians looking for a jump start on the day or a mid-day bite. El Rey’s tangy tortilla soup makes a great starter, chock full of rotisserie chicken, corn, avocado, cheese and tortilla strips. While hearty utilitarian Mexican breakfasts are served along with rotisserie chicken, burritos and fajitas, the real treats are the signature sandwiches. If you’re needing a boost, the restaurant’s Cuban coffee drinks are not-to-be missed.
El Rey is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily.
