Longtime Pappas restaurant alum, Chris Smith, has set out on his own with a chef-driven Mexican-food concept dubbed Hugo Caliente. Located in west Houston’s CityCentre, next door to Fleming’s, the quick-service restaurant is drawing fans with its scratch-made taco and enchilada offerings.
With nary a freezer in the building, guests can expect fresh, house-made flour, corn and wheat tortillas, as well as specialty sauces like the sweet habanero and roasted green chile. While there, don’t miss the shredded pork tacos or Mama Hugo’s green chicken mole enchiladas. Hugo Caliente also serves breakfast and offers catering.
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily.
