Irma's Southwest, the newer version of Irma's Southwest Grille, offers authentic Tex-Mex right next to Minute Maid Park. Located in Downtown Houston, on the ground level of the luxury apartment building Catalyst, Irma's Southwest has a fresh take on its 20-plus year tradition. The restaurant, known for its ever-changing food offerings, previously operated in the same way as its founding restaurant Irma's Original - without a menu. Now, along with a new name, Irma's Southwest provides a printed menu with pricing for diners. New menu items include bacon-wrapped shrimp, ceviche and house-made tamales, adding to its classic Tex-Mex dishes like carnitas, enchiladas, wild boar and the ever-so-popular chips and queso. Prices range from $11 to $30. Irma's also offers traditional margaritas and cocktails along with Texas craft beers.
The 7,700-square-foot space has an upscale atmosphere with tablecloths and traditional decor. But don't confuse the white linens with the vibe. It's a vibrant spot ideal for lunch meetings or dinner with friends. The 60-seat bar and lounge area also make it an ideal place to watch a game (Go 'Stros!) or grab drinks.
Irma's Southwest is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
