J.R.'s—like its sister bars in Dallas and Denver—is a quintessential gay hangout with attractive Southwestern-inspired decor and a fabulous patio. The Montrose-set spot is an H-Town staple among the gay crowd, offering cheap drinks, quick services and a good mix of music and videos.

While it may not be the poshest bar in the gayborhood, it does draw a loyal following that return for a laid-back atmosphere and generous happy hour that begins at noon and wraps up at 10PM Monday through Saturday. Stop by for $2 Tuesdays.
